Firefighter & Children Health Protection Act (FCHPA) bans four toxic flame retardant chemicals in upholstered furniture and children’s products. The bill passed through two policy Committees: Health and Commerce, where it was scaled back from 10 chemicals to 4; mattresses, drapery and carpets were removed; and the implementation date was pushed back one year.

Banning of flame retardants chemical in upholstered furniture and children’s products is approved. After the Senate accepted the scaled back House version on May 17, the bill was signed by Governor Dayton on May 20th.
