FCHPA bans ten toxic flame retardant chemicals in upholstered furniture, mattresses, carpeting, drapery and children’s products. The bill passed through three policy Committees: Environment, Health and Commerce. Bill was amended on the floor to change the minimum level of flame retardants allowed in products from 100 parts per million to 1000 parts per million. This makes to bill consistent with the House version (HF 1100- Rep. Howe).

Banning of flame retardants chemical in upholstered furniture is approved. The House will need to vote on their version of the bill in order for it to be sent to the Governor of signing.
Ten flame retardants chemicals would not be banned in Minnesota.
