FCHPA bans four toxic flame retardant chemicals in upholstered furniture and children’s products. The original bill banning ten flame retardants in upholstered furniture, mattresses, children’s products and drapery textiles passed through three policy Committees: Environment, Health and Commerce and was passed by a 59-2 Senate floor vote on 4-28. Because the House passed a narrower version of the bill, repassage by the Senate was needed.
