The Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) makes recommendations for allocating lottery funds deposited in the Environmental Trust Fund. This year’s recommendations totaled $46.3 million for 65 projects, including projects for water quality, habitat protection, parks and trails, renewable energy, and invasive species prevention.
The Legislature is asked to approve the recommendations so the funds can be appropriated and the conservation investments can begin.
During the legislative committee process, changes were proposed that would have eliminated an important project to analyze strategies to increase renewable energy and energy efficiency in the state. The final bill recommended by the conference committee restored this funding by allocating it to an account for emerging issues.
