SF 723: Amendment: Remove language that would suspend certain water quality standards

Senate Environment & Natural Resources Omnibus Bill

The Senate Environment Finance Bill included a provision that would have weakened water quality rules by suspending certain water quality standards, including phosphorus standards for rivers, that were adopted after 2014. The Pollution Control Agency would have been barred from enforcing the standards, meaning more phosphorus pollution would be allowed to enter Minnesota rivers.

What Would Happen?

A “Yes” vote means the provision weakening water quality rules is no longer in the bill.

A “No” vote means the provision is not removed and certain water quality rules would be suspended if the omnibus bill is agreed to the conference committee.

How The Senate Voted

A “No” vote means the provision is not removed and certain water quality rules would be suspended if the omnibus bill is agreed to the conference committee.
