HF 3209: Prohibit the DNR from restricting toxic lead shot

Lead is a toxic substance and can harm birds and waterfowl that consume it. Alternatives such as steel shot are available and lead shot is currently not allowed on federal hunting lands. The MN DNR has held public meetings on restricting the use of lead shot on state lands. This bill would prohibit the DNR from adopting any restrictions on the use of lead shot.

What Would Happen?

The House approves the bill to prevent the DNR from restricting the use of toxic lead shot. The bill is sent to the Senate for approval.

The DNR is not restricted from limiting the use of toxic lead shot.
