Minnesota’s outdoor traditions of hunting and fishing are supported largely by the Game and Fish fund which is used to monitor fish and habitat populations and conduct activities that enhance the sports. But as the needs continued to grow, they weren’t keeping pace with the money collected for the fund. A modest fee increase on hunting and fishing licenses, the first in over a decade, was proposed and broadly supported by over 60 outdoors and environmental groups. The Game and Fish bill passed with the increase and was signed into law by Governor Dayton.
