Every year, Minnesota imports $18 billion worth of energy from other states and countries. The Senate Omnibus Energy bill includes two proposals that will create more locally produced energy and add to Minnesota’s already robust clean energy sector. First, the bill will improve our state’s Renewable Energy Standard (RES) to 40 percent by 2030. Second, the bill will increase our yearly energy savings goal from 1.5 to 2 percent.
